Reversing diabetes: Taupō family weighs in

On Monday January 18, Corena Adie got an unexpected phone call.
It was Dr Glen Davies from Taupō Medical Centre ringing to tell her that husband David Adie s type 2 diabetes had reversed. While experts differ over whether diabetes can be reversed or cured, or simply put into remission, a Newcastle University study led by Professor Roy Taylor in 2011 showed that putting people with Type 2 diabetes on a low-calorie diet meant some could reverse their diabetes.
Season five is expected to see the same cast members return. It earlier had Myrka Cantu whose story revolved around her trying to fix the relationship with her mother, who kicked her out of the house upon learning about the pregnancy, forcing Myrka to move in with Ethan and his family.
It also had Reanna Cline who decided to move an hour away from Taron, following their breakup, so she could live with her mom. The former couple, who are no longer on speaking terms, tried to make amends for the sake of their baby. Reannaâs mother had also been adamant that they needed to restore civility for the sake of their child who needed both parents.
